History of The Labor day

Labor Day is celebrated in many countries on May 1st. The history of this holiday began in 1886 because it was on May 1, 1866, that Chicago workers organized a strike demanding an 8-hour working day. At that time, the average working day was about 13 hours a day. This strike did not succeed, during the strike, both civilians and police officers were killed, and after many were fired, the repeated riot was suppressed by the police.

After the sad events in Chicago in 1866, a monument to the killed police officers was erected at the site of the strike, but in 1996 an unknown person blew it up. Only 8 years later, namely in 2004, a monument to the participants in the uprising was erected.
